Now, like you said, it is very much in early access. There are plenty of valid complaints about balance, amount of content, difficulty, etc.

It does have a weak sense of progression compared to some other roguelikes, but it's the little things it does that make it enjoyable for me. Like how accuracy is always a base 100% chance to hit, as opposed to the first game where it starts out average/low and you have to find ways to buff it (and even then you might still miss!)

The pieces really start falling into place once you beat act 3. Most of the plot gets explained in acts 3-4-5.
